The Illinois Award

ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF WASTEWATER AGENCIES

            This award representing the recipient’s outstanding contribution to the field of waste collection, treatment and purification and/or in the related fields of endeavor shall be presented by the Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies on behalf of those who have strived to improve the environment in this select field and the people of the State of Illinois.

             The Awards Committee shall solicit applicants and examine the credentials of the candidates.  The names of the recommended nominees will be forwarded to the Executive Committee who shall make the final selection.

             The presentation of the award shall be made at the banquet of the annual convention of the Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies.

             The contributions for which the recipient will be selected may be for the development of technical knowledge unique to our field of endeavor which will improve or upgrade wastewater treatment processes.  Selection may be for leadership in the public sector which contributed to the betterment of the environment for the people of the State of Illinois, or it may be for the individual who through personal effort has improved and elevated the position of our field of endeavor in the public eye.

             Each member agency is requested to submit one nominee to the Awards Committee.  Included with their selection, a brief biographical background and qualities that generated their selection should be submitted.

             When the selection has been finalized, the recipient shall be contacted by the Executive Committee, notified of his or her selection and invited to the annual banquet to receive his or her award.  The expense of transportation and lodging is to be borne by the Association.

             The presentation of the award shall be made by the President of the Association.

             It cannot be overemphasized that in the selection of the recipient, he or she must have contributed to the water environment field in a manner which has brought benefits to the people of the State of Illinois, dignity and respect for and to the field of our endeavors and contributed to the well-being of our Association and its members.
